I had I Straight for many years and tried Liscio for the first time in Feb. (and the guy who did it is from Japan and actually did it in Japan as well before opening a salon here). My hair reverted. Maybe my hair is really strange but I personally prefer I straight.
Any salon that does I Straight or Liscio s/b good. I hear SHO is good but I don't know about Maxines. If you go there, let me know.
I don't know about Liscio being better than I Straight. In my experience, it wasn't. Maybe they used too light a version on my hair but still. I was much happier the 3X I had I Straight but didn't want to pay $700 or more every time any more and last time my ends got a bit broomy so I decided to try Liscio since everyone raved about it.
Don't rule out I Straight. If $$ is no object, go to Sho. I hear it is great. But I don't think Liscio is any better than I straight from my own head of hair. Everyone's hair is different so you may have totally different results than I did. My hair is pretty resistant even though fine and not virgin. It fools a lot of people into thinking I need a lighter, more sensitized version than I do. Good luck in your search. Chicago is still way overpriced for TRs.. they all average about $600-$900 to start in the Loop.
