Subject: My hair can't hold colour...bkt? sulfates?? please help, going crazy
Date: October 17, 2010 at 5:51 pm PST
Over the past 6 months, I have noticed that my hair cannot keep any colour. When I rinse it, I literally see all my colour wash down the drain, and my hair goes a shade or two lighter after every wash. The colour mainly seems to drain at my roots.
I was getting bkt's done pretty regularly, every couple months. I felt they were having a cumulative effect, so I wanted to see how long bkt's last for me. So I havent had one in about 5-6 months (not sure if this matters)
I also use only sulfate free shampoo. I have been doing this for about 8 months, and Im wondering if this is why the colour seems to drain mostly from my roots. I have never had this problem, and this is the only thing i've changed in my routine. I cannot go back to sulfates as they were the cause of my scalp flaking.
In addition to the colour loss, my hair always has brassy tones in it. Keep in mind, every time my hair is coloured, it's using an ash based black dye. My hair can't even hold the darkest black... and this is when dyed by a professional!
I know this was long, but im really hoping for some help as this is very frustrating.
