My hair is difficult like yours... I had the Liscio treatment done about 6 times and it never really took. It would get straight if I blow dryed and hot ironed. But if any of it got wet (think amusement park flume ride) my hair would remain striaght except for the parts that got wet and that would look like a kinky frizzy mess.
This time around my stylist suggested that we try something new - Surface Straightening solution - eco friendly - no harsh chemicals. I was nervous about switching as it is sooo expensive and to at least the little relief I was getting from Liscio seemed to be my best bet. I tried doing some research but not alot of info out there... found the surface website (I even called to talk to a representative there) and some instructional videos on youtube (the models hair wasn't anything like the mess I have for hair). In the end I decided to trust my stylist and try Surface.
I AM SOOOO HAPPY I did! I will never go back to Liscio. My hair is not only straight with some body, I can let it air dry and it doesn't turn into a frizzy mess. It stays for the most part straight and NO FRIZZ. For me this is worth it in itself - now I can let my hair air dry at the pool and not pin it up, back, etc... mortified that I cannot go anywhere but home to fix my hair before I go back out.
Now I can ride the amusement park ride water rides at the beginning of the day vs the end of the day as my hair can just air dry and I don't look like a complete mess while walking through the park. (I will report back on this once I have done to confirm but based on my air dry test the other day shouldn't be an issue!)
Please feel free to talk with my stylist about what you are looking for... she does Liscio, Surface, Keratin Treatments, etc... and can answer any question you may have. Her name is Tiffany - Eclips Salon, McLean. VA - 703-821-0022 - http://www.eclipshair.com/locations.html
Best of luck with your decision.
