Subject: Help! BKT and thinning hair?
Date: May 2, 2009 at 5:34 am PST

I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I have had 4 BKT's over the past two years and while I love the results, my hair is becoming increasingly thinner. I don't know if it's breakage or it's just falling out. I noticed it the most after the third BKT, which I had last summer. Right after the treatment clumps of hair were falling out in the shower and I would find hair all over my house. It seems to be the thinnest around the hair line, temple area and top of my head and my bang area is so thin you can see through it. I have very curly, coarse and what was once very thick hair. I spoke to the stylist who did my hair about this problem and she can't figure out why this is happening. The last time I had it done she went a little lighter around the hairline with the iron. She uses the Lasio brand. I did ask if we could switch brands and maybe that would help but she talked me into the Lasio again, saying this product gives the best results and I wouldn't be happy with any of the others.

Another stylist did suggest that too much protein could cause the hair to break. Is this possible?

If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it. The last BKT has just about worn off and I need to do something for the summer. Should I try a different brand of BKT and is there anything I can to do stop the hairloss? Any conditioning treatments, etc.

I really don't want to stop doing the BKT, it is the only thing that helps with the humidity but I also don't want to lose anymore hair.
