Leslie - Thanks for responding. My hair is straight, shiny and soft - it is not dried out at all (see photo of my hair, which has not been flat ironed, no products, just blow dried without a brush). It looks just like a TR I had about 5 yrs ago (As a FYI, prior to this incident, even with the BKT my hair was still very curly, just less frizz).
I called the stylist who flat ironed my hair last weekend to see if she knew what had happened. Prior to her styling, I had washed and defused my hair as I have been for the last couple of months (using the Coppola shampoo and conditioner, small amount of Morrocan oil to reduce frizz, defuse and air dry). All she did was flat iron to better define the curls and put it in an updo, and the iron she used was around 415 degrees. She thought that perhaps the iron had reactivated the BKT somehow - especially since I use the Coppola shampoo (FYI..I never flat ironed my hair following my BKT, I just let it air dry). She thought the curl would start to come back after a couple of shampoos.
It has now been 5 shampoos (using sodium chloride free shampoo, but not Coppola) and the curl is not coming back yet. My hair feels great and does not seem damaged at all. I just want curls, not straight hair! Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
