I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. It sounds to me like there was either a problem with the application of the Opti Smooth or the ironing. The product should not come in contact with the scalp, as it will cause the new hair to break. If you can find a salon that does a Biolustre treatment, that will stop the breakage. Another option would be a Shinbi treatment.

I recommend to my clients that they use a sulfate free shampoo and then apply their conditioner in layers. First moisture, a reconstuctor and then a detangler. Using small amounts and layering in that order. Keep a wide tooth comb in the shower and completely comb the conditioners through to the ends. Do not over rinse the hair. Wrap your hair in a towel and avoid rubbbing the towel on your hair. Use a leave in conditioner prior to applying any styling products and comb through gently. I am a big fan of Mastey products, but there are many good lines available. I hope this helps!
