Not better, just different.
There are many different solutions/products. Each system can have several strengths that can be mixed to create even more custom solutions.
The choice is made by the stylist depending upon the condition of the hair, the strength of the curl and the desired results. Hopefully the stylist will explain what they expect the outcome to be considering all the variables. If your results are different than what the stylist has predicted, I would ask WHY.
I can look at a head of hair and pretty much predict exactly what they can expect. This is experience. Less experienced stylist may not have this ability yet.
It takes a great deal on time to learn all of the nuances of each system and solution, and I still learn something new every day.
