Subject: Pros: Hair is course, sticky(?) 3 wks after BKT
Date: July 7, 2008 at 9:18 am PST

Apologies in advance for long entry (combined BKT & highlight problem)...any and all help is sincerely appreciated!!

Problem: 3 Weeks after BKT, Diffult to run brush through hair; texture is almost gritty, feels like there is glue in it, course, hair retained all of curl and is increasingly subject to frizz. Hair now takes TWICE as long to blow out post BKT.

My Hair: Highlighted (with bleach), shoulder length, wavy curls (think Chelsea Clinton), pretty fine.

Product: Pureology, Phytodifrisant volumizer and defrizz, Redken Smooth down.

Background:
Three weeks ago go BKT (Mar. Tex product). Immediately hair was curly but texture seemed defintely different: Not necessarily smooth and soft, but thicker, courser. Stylist advised that getting highlights 2 wks later was okay; therefore, I went got highlights (with bleach) 2 wks after BKT.

When I got the highlights done (at a different salon than the BKT) I asked the colorist to reduce the red in my highlights. He used foils. My hair turned grayish-blue. Not acceptable. The colorist said it was no problem, he just needed to apply toner. The color issue was reduced but the blu-gray tint defintely still visible. He would NOT finish the correction because he had 2 people waiting. I immediately called the salon I got the BKT at and a colorist there stayed late to help fix the situation. He simply applied bleach (painting) throughout. The color is 95% better.

Now it is EXTREMELY difficult to blow out my hair, takes twice as long as before. Feels like it has glue in it. I left conditioner in it for an hour. No difference.

I have not talked to the stylist who performed the BKT yet (the salon is closed and I've been out of town), but would love to have feedback prior to seeking her assistance to make sure I'm headed down the right track.

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
Wendy
