Hi,

I am in my mid-30's and while I don't have one silver hair, the luster and depth of color has been fading for years. My hair is wavy and slow to grow. The texture of my hair is medium, but I have a TON of hair. Or so every hairdresser tells me. Over the past 2-3 years I grew my hair long.

Last year after an injury (and much stress) my scalp got very dry and flaky. The past 4 months it's been getting VERY BAD. My scalp feels badly unhealthy and clumpy. I decided to get my hair cut, so i could manage it better.

In the past month my hair is looking rough and unruly (like a very course texture, wiry and the hairs stick out instead of laying smooth when I brush them down. I already use smoothly fluid, but this is like a serious textural problem (I think from my dried flaky scalp). Two weeks ago, handfuls of hair are coming out in the shower. (Like 200-400 strands). I still have have a decent amount of hair left, but at this rate not for much longer.

Can you please advise? What product/s can help me? I'm wondering if there is some type of heavier duty scalp treatment for this condition?

FYI - I tend to have fairly sensitive skin.

Thank you,
Sarah

Additional info: when I was young my hair was blonde, it turned dirty blonde/brown at puberty and then darkened to medium then dark brown. Even now though, there are still many different 'types' of strands on my head.. some are thin and almost blond and others are wiry almost black. My hair used to naturally highlite from the sun during the summer. It's been dyed with semi-permanent, permanent and aveda-natural-type-permanent-dyes, but no perms and no dying recently.
