Appreciate your kind words. I think we can all benefit from the words and examples of others. I felt, in this case, that I could help David from making the same mistake as me. Originally, I had made an appointment over two years ago with Les, who had done a great job with Maintamer on my hair. Unfortunately, it was over a holiday weekend and I knew it would take me some time to schedule another appointment with him. So, I took that words of another and went to an alternate salon in NY. This was a huge mistake. They underprocessed my hair and I noticed it almost immediately when I stopped off for lunch and went into the bathroom. Bad thing is that I called them a few weeks later, spoke with the owner and expressed my concerns. I went back in with the understanding that they would redo the process and all she did was give me a deep conditioning treatment. It helped but was still icky on one side. The worst thing about this process was that my hair was stick straight. It didn't look normal and it felt very uncomfortable. I went back to Les Correa and he gave me a haircut to try and accommodate the process that had been used on my hair. He even commented that the stylist could have done a better job on my hair and he didn't understand why all of these stylists felt, especially with guys, that they needed to make the hair "stick straight". My hair had no body and then too much body. I think optismooth or another process would have worked better for me. Now my hair is long and I'm thinking about getting something done to it. I was considering bkt but am a bit taken aback after reading all of the comments about it not lasting. Also, the chemicals are a big deal for me too.
Anyway, as I said. I was just trying to keep David from making the same mistakes as me. Hopefully, he will post his location on this board so that others can recommend a stylist/salon that can help him out.
Lastly, I give full credit to Les on the comment about pictures of hairstyles. That is something that he said to me awhile back and I recommend it all the time to friends. It is a good idea and helps us communicate what look we want to achieve to the stylist.
