During the time of your BKT service, YOU are the only client that stylist is able to work on and they are the only stylist that is working on you.
The BKT product is 5 times more expensive than any other chemical our salon purchases to use on our clients.
We also had to upgrade our flat irons to irons that reached 450 degrees (they are more expensive than a regular flat Iron)and a small flat iron with teeth that you also need to use for the service. Masks had to be purchased, a air purifier, special shampoos to prep the hair for the service and to retail after the service.
These factors all had to be considered when I set my price scale for the salon. I think our salon is reasonable because you lose money from that weekly client that came in to get thier hair straighten every week with a blowdry and flat iron, and in return it will save that client money and time spent on thier hair.
Granted I am a small salon outside of Reading Pa and I think it is high what some salons are charging but it depends on the location of the salon what that salon is charging for the BKT (New york and Philadelpia everything is priced higher.)
You as a client must remember that you will be spending less in the 2 to 3 months or longer depending on your hair, at the salon and for products that you need to maintain your hair.
Sorry for the long post but I felt I needed to say my peace, I have been a hairstylist for 22 years and this product by Marcia Teixeira does exactly what it promises. It is a god send for people with fizzy hair. If you have questions about the BKT service my salon does you can call me or email me at the address below
