Subject: My BKT disappeared after first shampoo!
Date: August 10, 2007 at 9:03 pm PST
I had my first BKT done 4 days ago and my hair looked great, shiny and pin-straight. Tonight I washed it for the first time, using Pureology, and even as I was rinsing out the shampoo I could feel my curls return. When I got out of the shower my hair was wavy. I used a blow-dryer on half of it and let the other half air-dry. The side I blew dry is fairly straight but thin, lifeless and frizzy. The side I air-dried is curly again! The stylist did say she used a formula that had 0.2% formeldehyde instead of 2%, do you think that had something to do with it? Why did my hair look so straight and shiny the whole 4 days until I washed it? I'm so discouraged. Maybe I should have done the Japanese hair straightening thing instead? I just talked to the stylist and she said that she should have used a relaxer before doing the BKT, and that she wants to repeat the BKT on me, but I'm hesitant because tonight after shampooing I used Pureology conditioner and my scalp was burning from the menthol in it, so I'm wondering whether my scalp is sensitive from the BKT process and I don't really want to do it again. Help, any advice would be appreciated!
