If you have come to this site on a web search for beauty or weightloss products -- please do not call us to ask about those products. We do not sell them!
We recently have been receiving many phone calls and emails from people who read posts about a particular product on these discussion boards, and then call us because they think we may somehow sell or be involved with that product.
We only sell Lamas Beauty shampoos and skincare products. For a listing of products we sell, please visit our homepage.
Please do not call us about other products that people may talk about on these discussion boards. Our Customer Service department will not be able to discuss any products with you other than Lamas Beauty products. While people here may discuss or express opinions about other beauty or weightloss products, we have no information or connection with any products but our own, so please do not call us about those other products.

Subject: The truth about BKT

I decided to do extensive research about the Brazilian Keratin Treatment since there has been so much controversy.
My findings are:
The woman who died did the procedure herself in her home with solutions that were not approved by Anvisa (Brazil FDA) Women obtain the formaldehyde mix it with creams and apply it to their hair. The percentage of formaldehyde used in these home concoctions is up to 37%. Add that to poor ventilation and a possible sensitivity, allergy, and the result is severe.
The BKT is not banned in Brazil. It is approved at 2% formaldehyde.
The problem is at that percentage, some hair does not become pin straight, usually thick ,very curly, healthy hair, so women try to make it stronger.
I did read that the use of formaldehyde does cause some problems if one is sensitive to it, like burning wattery eyes, itchy scalp. I read over and over again that it does not cause cancer! I would assume that the possibility of it causing cancer is as great as any product we use in the salon.
I would NEVER use this product if I thought it would harm my health. No amount of money would be worth the loss of my life.
The answer here is to be sure that whomever is applying this to your hair knows what they are doing and that the proper 2% product is used. That proper ventilation is available for the comfort of the client and stylist.
I hope I have finally put this to rest and that those who choose to post half truths will stop trying to upset and frighten everyone.
