If you have come to this site on a web search for beauty or weightloss products -- please do not call us to ask about those products. We do not sell them!
We recently have been receiving many phone calls and emails from people who read posts about a particular product on these discussion boards, and then call us because they think we may somehow sell or be involved with that product.
We only sell Lamas Beauty shampoos and skincare products. For a listing of products we sell, please visit our homepage.
Please do not call us about other products that people may talk about on these discussion boards. Our Customer Service department will not be able to discuss any products with you other than Lamas Beauty products. While people here may discuss or express opinions about other beauty or weightloss products, we have no information or connection with any products but our own, so please do not call us about those other products.

I wish I could address your concerns but I cannot. I can only speak about my personal experiences.
I do the BKT process personally about 4 times a week. I do 4 or 5 TRs a week as well.
I do not have any problems with the product or the smell. Nor do my clients. I do have good ventilation in the salon and I use a fan to constantly move the air away from the client and myself.
I have not done a chemical analysis of this product but the label clearly states that it does contain formaldehyde. I do not take this lightly. If I felt there was any serious health issue, I would not do the process.
I know there are stories out there about people dying. Or at least one I have read. I know that the woman had breathing problems and was in a rather small room with poor ventilation.
As with everything, there will always be someone who has an adverse reaction.
What I would suggest you do is to ask the salon if you can be present when someone else is getting the process and check it out before you have it done.
The product does have a pungent odor and it can make eyes water a bit. As a professional I make sure that does not happen to my clients.
This process does take experience and caution.
Perms and color have been around forever and I still have clients who comment on the smell and their eyes water from the smell of the bleach or perm solution. The hair sprays we use hang in the air as well.
The answer is to have proper ventilation. This goes for all salon treatments.
I do not believe that the BKT will destroy the hair after many treatments. I do believe the hair can be harmed if it is done too frequently or used improperly.
I would be uncomfortable at any salon that takes sanitation and ventilation lightly.
As far as formaldehyde being banned by the FDA, it is just not true. Formaldehyde , in various forms, is used frequently as a preservative in hair and skin products.
The answer is all about care, concern, education and experience.
I hope I have helped to address some of your concerns, as best I can.
