Denise, this is a cut and paste of my response to you regarding my Get Rid of the Frizz but Keep the Hair Volume post (posted on 6/16/07). I would really appreciate if you give me your opinion.
First of all let me thank you and other stylists that help people like me to make good decisions about our hair.
Now about my hair. It is Caucasian. When I was young, my hair was thick with tight curl. Now, decades later, after many-many years of hair “abuse” by using irons, curlers, strengtheners, coloring, etc., my hair is very dry and more on the thin side, although I still have lots of it. I did my first TR several years ago and usually waited approximately 9 months to do the following ones. All this time I continued to color my hair (dark, no ammonia colorants). My hair was long all this time (9-10 inches below the shoulders). What I did not like about the TRs was that they left the ends of my hair sticking out like dry hay (I used all kinds of masks and hair softeners – to no avail).
I was very happy to hear about the cold Optismooth. The stylist gave me a nice haircut and then applied Optismooth. By that time my new growth was about 7 inches, and she said she did not put Optismooth on the old TR.
What I liked about this process was that when I went home I still had all the hair volume and it looked great. However, before she styled it the hair did look frizzy. I think that it took her too long to apply smoothing crème so my developing time was twice as long as it should have been, and it seemed that she did not wash all of it off my hair. 48 hours later I washed it, put curlers and dried my hair using my hair-dryer with the bonnet. It looked gorgeous, just as I said in my post earlier. Yesterday I washed it again and this time I blow-dried it. This time the result was very different. The hair was frizzy. I used Matrix-recommended products and ironed my hair but now I know that I still have my frizz…
Denise, can you please give me your advice what to do?
Thank you again
P.S. I have just washed my hair again. It is as curly and as frizzy as if nothing has been done to it…
