I agree with you about some of the comments that were made by people who said that you should had been able to do a wash and go, especially with your first TR.
I also agree that choosing a stylist to do a TR is as important as choosing a doctor. That is why it's so important to read other people experiences with the salon or stylist you are interested in. You must feel totally comfortable with the person who will be doing your hair.
Some people's hair grows pretty fast and 6 months is more than enough time before their next touch up. However, depending on how fast your hair grows, you made need more than 6 months to wait before having your next touch up. Some stylist won't do your touch up until the new growth is at least 3 or 4 inches long.
As far as the cold straightening is concern, some posters I read are not too crazy about it.Though from what you describe your hair, it sound like you would be a good candidate for this procedure.
My only concern is why wasn't your first thermal reconditioning was a wash and go success.
I post "the Opti-smooth cold" straightening below.
What is the name and location of the salon you found that does the cold straightening? Maybe someone on this board can help you better if you tell us the name of the salon.
The salon should have good reputation and have lots of satified customers.
