Subject: Got my "shag" cut...a question for Denise
Date: October 17, 2006 at 2:26 pm PST

Hi Denise - I got my cut a few days ago and I'm trying to figure out if I like it. I think the guy "overdirected" my hair as you had mentioned. The only thing is he razored the top and front heavily so it looks like it poofs out when you get past eye level. It's definitely de-bulked but I thought it was supposed to be at a right angle to my head when I turn my head upside down. The first few inches from the top of my head are but not the rest. It looks kind of weird and I spent a small fortune for this cut. I never like my hair when it's first cut so I just figured I'd fuss with it when I got home and didn't say anything. The shortest layers (at the top and my bangs) are about 3" but I thought the rest of the hair was supposed to be brought up to that as a guide. The shortest layer in the back and sides is about 6" so it's not a smooth transition.

I don't want to go back to this guy because I don't know if I'll get much satisfaction. He has a great reputation but a bit of an attitude to match. Am I being too picky? Also, he razored into one side a bit too much and it was uneven. Is this cut supposed to be so hevily razored?

He told me it wouldn't look like the pic since I'm growing out a TR but my hair is wavy, not curly. I understand that but the part that's straight is the part that has the longer layers and poofs out. If it were all wavy, it would REALLY be noticeable. Any words of advice or am I overthinking this? If I go back to get it fixed by him or someone else, how do I convey what I want. I thought I did that with the great pic I finally found. Thanks. Sorry this is so long...I just spent a lot for a little satisfaction.
