Subject: PETER, please help. Hair changes, finer and somewhat thinner

Hi Peter, I am 44 and over the last 2-3 years my thick fine-to-medium
textured hair has gone to very fine with no body. I had my
hormones tested and my progesterone was low and my thyroid was
low. I have been placed on bioidentical progesterone and
thyroid about 6 months ago which has helped some but my hair
is still a lot finer and drier than it used to be with no
body. I have always permed my hair about every 8 months or so
since the age of 20. I wear it shoulder length and layered. I
hate to have to mess with my hair, that is why I have always
worn it wavy/curly, just wash, condition and air dry. Over
the last 2-3 years I have only been perming about once a
year,but the perm doesn't seem to take very well. The perm I
have now is a year old and really would like to get another
one as I don't have much curl left but I am afraid it might
make me lose hair or damage it. I have tried using a curling
iron but the curl falls out. I have been using your mousse
and thermal styling spray which helps some but the curl still
falls out. I started using your Chinese Herbal Shampoo and
conditioner about 2 months ago. Do you have any
recommendations as far as promoting healthy hair growth and
volume,i.e., products to use? Recommendations for styling
products that will promote volume and help the curl to stay?
Do you think getting a perm is too harsh for fine hair?
