If you haven’t noticed in the pages of fashion magazines, classes are back with a new twist. Trench coats, kick-pleat skirts, and pin stripe suits are everywhere and if you want to be in fashion wear these classics.

Classics are never out of style. They are transformed year-in and year-out with a new twist. The essence of a great look is classic styling, and simplicity that will last for years to come. Classics are always available and always in fashion. Other items include tailored suits and blazers, regimental stripe ties, tweeds, tailored notched-collar blouses, a-line skirts, sewn down pleated skirts, sweater sets, polo shirts and khaki pants are just some of the styles seen year-in and year-out.

One item that is particularly hot is the trench coat. However, compared to the somber colors of khaki, navy and black, many are in pink and patterns. Rather than just serving a single role of keeping you dry and warm, trench coats today are for all occasions that require a stroll outside. They may not have a zip-in liner so check before you buy, especially if you want the coat to serve a practical role.

Other hot looks this fall are the kick-pleat and A-pleated skirts. These skirt styles returned in classic colors as well as patterns such as gray, navy, glen and tartan plaids. These go great with sweater sets that I remember my mother wearing when I was growing up. Put on a set of pearls and you’re ready to go.

Trying to stay up with fashion requires a large pocketbook and an even larger closet. Besides, when new fashions are introduced five times a year for women’s wear and just about as many times for menswear, it’s a lot of work. Usually a tailored white shirt is enough to update your wardrobe. Moreover, when you find a look that suits who you are, where you live, and your profession, -- stick with it. For me, I found that contour pants with a front or side zipper are extremely comfortable and slimming as well. Wearing belts for me has become uncomfortable so I prefer these styles no matter what is hot and what’s not. But then again, side-zip pants were popular when I was growing up, now they’re back.

If you want to be in fashion, examine styles over a period of time and you will see what is consistently shown each season. That way you can know for yourself that classics are the better investments. So if you want to be in fashion, invest in classics!
