Today,
we now know that sunlight and environmental exposure are the chief causes
of premature aging of the skin. Since the skin is the largest organ of
the body, sun damage thus effects your whole body. In fact, few beauty
issues have raised more concerns than the effect of sunlight, in the short
and long term, on the health, beauty and wellbeing of your skin. And scientists
are still finding new reasons to be concerned about overexposure to sunlight
- whether it's the kind we're all exposed to every day or the intense
kind we get in the summer when we are outdoors or on the beach for hours
at a time.
Here's a primer on many different areas of concern when it comes to you,
your skin and the sun. It's important to know the facts about sun exposure
and what you can do to limit the damage the sun can do to your skin -
and even more important, your children's skin, while they are at the age
most vulnerable to sun damage.
The good news is that thanks to today's technology and what we now know
about prevention, much can be done to prevent sun damage and maintain
healthy younger-looking skin for life.
