Kissing
in the Dark - Makeup Report
Deep
thinkers will have something to smile about this season with the
dark and dramatic lip shades coming into their own. Best worn
with minimal mascara and eye brow pencil, a neutral eye shadow
and no or virtually no blush, the deep, dark lip becomes the focal
point of the face. without fighting with your other features.
While
the matt-est and darkest shades are best left to the teens and
"twenty-somethings," anyone can jump on the bandwagon
by picking and choosing what works best for them.
Know
Your Palette. Look to the shades of dark chocolate
brown, ginger, eggplant, near black, black plum and deep burgundy.
They're all hotter than hot.
Take
It Easy. If you've never worn such dark shades before,
it's a little bit of a culture shock. Start out in more familiar
territory - like a plum or burgundy - until you get used to seeing
those colors on your face.
Line
with Care. If you like to line your lips, choose a
neutral lipliner pencil in a pinky-brown or nude shade close to
your natural lipcolor and use it just for shaping. You never want
the liner to show with this look.
Blot
Softly. Blotting takes the edge off a super dark color
and keeps the color off your teeth and champagne glasses, too.
Save
It For Tonight. You can also reserve your real darks
for night time glamour and try a sheer, glossy version of same
for the light of day.
Even
Small Can Be Big. Dark shades tend to make small lips
look even smaller. No problem. Either stay on the lighter side
of the spectrum, or use a sheer gloss version. Now, blot it right
in the center of the lower lip to get a one-layer-lighter pout
right in the middle of your kisser.
