1. | Rule #1: Don't pick!

2. | Wash twice a day. Lightly in the AM. Extra-thoroughly in the PM.

3. | Disinfect by placing a septic stick on the zit for 30 seconds.

4. | To reduce redness: Saturate a cotton ball with Visine and hold it on the blemish for 2 minutes or more.

5. | Reduce swelling or inflammation with a dab a Preparation H. Leave it on for a few minutes until absorbed.

6. | Have a professional facial regularly to safely extract clogged oil and dirt without infection or scarring.
|
|
7. | Don't overtreat. Over-doing it - washing, masking, or medicating - can stimulate more oil.
|
|
8. | Rest on the 7th Day. Give skin a makeup-free day.
|
|
9. | Eat a healthy diet and get regular exercise to improve circulation.
|
|
10. | Use oil-free sun blocks or tanning lotions.
|
|
11. | Avoid creme-based foundation or blush if your skin is oily.
|
|
12. | Keep your hands off your face. When you do touch your face, make sure fingers and nails are clean as possible.
|
|
13. | See a dermatologist if acne persists.
|
|
14. | Exfoliate at night, 1-2 times a week.
|
|
15. | Use an acne/oily skin-fighting mask once a week.
|
|
16. | Avoid washcloths. A good alternate is a disposable cleansing 'facial' cloth. Use once.

17. | and throw away!

18. | Dry face with a clean towel.
|

19. | Wash with warm - not hot - water, and lots of it.

20. | Cut oil buildup with an oil-blotting "mattifying" toner.

21. | Use oil-free moisturizer sparingly. A dime-sized amount is plenty.

22. | If soap overdries skin, switch to cleanser - or alternate soap with cleanser, morning and night.
