Q: Hi Peter, I have had dark circles around my eyes forever and they drive me crazy. I always look as if I am tired. I do use make up to try to lessen the darkness but don't get the results. I would like to know if there is a way to lessen the darkness without always having to wear makeup to try and conceal them. Thank you.
               Mary, Alberta, Canada

Peter Answers: Mary, there are eye care products that contain Vitamin K and others that have lightening agents. Sometimes you can find a product that has both to offer. If you use something like this on a regular basis, day and night, especially underneath, in time you will notice there will be diminishing/noticeable improvement. Try to find these products in high-end department stores or pharmacies.

I also suggest you take a look at my concealer article on BeautyWalk (www.lamasbeauty.com/beauty/concealer.htm). This article will enlighten you on how to use a makeup concealer under the eyes correctly. I wish you the best Mary.

Q: I have an oily scalp that makes my hair oily. My hair is short, thin and fine. Can you recommend a decent shampoo for this?
               Tracey, Prince George, Canada

Peter Answers: Tracy, frequent shampooing will not make hair oilier, although excessive massage to the scalp will. Use an oily hair shampoo such as Fermodyl Volumizing Shampoo, Biotera Revitalizing Shampoo or go to your health food store and seek a shampoo for oily hair that contains only herbal ingredients - but avoid cream rinses and conditioners. I hope I have been of some help.

Q: I'm 15 years old and I want to try some funky looks on my eyes. Normally I'm very natural and I don't want to look "cheap" either. You should also know that my eyes are small, so I want to accent them, but not make then look even tinier. Thanks Peter!!
               Karalee, Saskatoon, Canada

Peter Answers: Karalee, the more you load the eye with makeup, with the intention of making them look funky, the greater the chances that your eyes will appear smaller, so you can't have it both ways. In this case you may have to sacrifice one for the other. But if you work on lining only the top eyelid and extending that line in dramatic fashion to the far outside corners, you can get pretty creative affects (experiment). Also, when you line the eyes, use vibrant colors such as lavender, plump or eggplant. These colors will add "the drama" to the appearance of your eyes. What I'm trying to say Karalee, get funky with your eyeliner and eyebrows and not so much the shadows, which will close your eyes. Don't forget the mascara; apply only on the top lid, never on the bottom. Let me know how it turns out!

Q: Peter, is it true that putting lemon all over the face will get rid of pimples?
               Jim, Michigan, USA

Peter Answers: Well, lemon will help lighten dark spots, age spots, and lemon is a natural exfoliant, and by using it, it can help clear out the pores, but it's really more suitable as a lightening agent on dark spots. It may reduce the appearance of pimples but better methods are available. Find a cleanser with salicylic acid, which will definitely help you clear up your pimples. Thanks for your question Jim.
