Q:
I
wear my thick hair short-- similar to the length of your hair
on the cover of your book (which is excellent, BTW!).
I am seriously considering a facelift. Will I need to grow my
hair longer to hide the first couple months of scarring?
Dr.
Loftus Answers: Facelift incisions are in front of the ear
and behind the ear, mostly. The scar behind the ear is fairly
high (well above the level of the earlobe). As such, most hair
covers these scars immediately.
The exception is with men who wear short hair. If your hair is
as long (or rather, as short) as mine, you should have no problem
concealing your scars immediately. No need to grow out your hair.
By the way, the scar around the earlobe heals fast and is hard
to see even two weeks after surgery. Good luck!
Best of luck!
